The SECO 02899508 is a single-sided trigon milling insert manufactured from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN and NbN dual coating. It carries the manufacturer grade MS2050 and is designed for indexable milling cutters operating on demanding workpiece materials. The insert features a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, a neutral hand orientation, and three cutting edges per insert. With a corner radius of 0.0472 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0790 inches, it is well suited for precision material removal in high-demand milling applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace facilities, and production machining environments are the primary users.
This insert is engineered primarily for superalloys and titanium workpieces, with secondary suitability for steel and stainless steel. Its ISO code and ANSI code are both 218.19-160T-04-M08, placing it in the 218.19-160 series. The M08 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during interrupted and continuous milling passes. It is held in place by a screw-type insert holding method and is compatible with the R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160 cutter series as specified by the manufacturer.
Compatible with the R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160 cutter series. ANSI and ISO code 218.19-160T-04-M08. Insert size code 160T-04.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, shut down the spindle completely and lock out the machine per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer's specification for the cutter series in use. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting the new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
