The SECO 02899503 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation SEEX1505AFN-M12 in manufacturer grade MS2050. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle and four usable cutting edges per insert, each with a honed cutting edge style and a positive rake angle of 5 degrees. A dual PVD coating of TiAlN and NbN provides thermal resistance and wear protection during aggressive milling operations. At 0.219 inches thick and 0.625 inches wide with an inscribed circle of 0.625 inches, this insert is dimensioned to the SEEX-15 series standard. It is installed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians on CNC milling platforms.
This insert is engineered primarily for milling superalloys and titanium, with secondary suitability for steel and stainless steel. The M12 chip breaker geometry and positive rake design manage chip flow and reduce cutting forces in difficult-to-machine materials. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.4055 inches, making it applicable to both roughing and semi-finishing passes in aerospace, energy, and general metalworking applications where heat-resistant alloys are common. The neutral hand orientation gives it broad compatibility across milling cutter configurations in the SEEX-15 series.
Designed for use with the SECO R220.53-15 cutter series. Insert style is SEEX, size code 1505, and follows ANSI/ISO designation SEEX1505AFN-M12. Compatible with screw-mounted cutter bodies configured for the SEEX-15 series insert pocket.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the milling spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key for the clamping screw and follow the cutter body manufacturer's seating procedure to achieve proper pocket contact. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
