The SECO 02899500 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation ONMU090520ANTN-ME13, manufactured to grade MS2050 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and NbN coating. The insert features an octagon shape with a neutral hand orientation, a negative rake angle of 20 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. Sixteen usable cutting edges are available across a double-sided configuration, making it a high-value option for production milling environments. The inscribed circle measures 0.8661 inches, thickness is 0.2677 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0787 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators working in aerospace, energy, and precision manufacturing are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is engineered primarily for milling superalloys and titanium, with secondary suitability for steel and stainless steel. The ME13 chip breaker geometry is optimized for the interrupted and continuous cuts common in those difficult-to-machine materials. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3031 inches with an effective cutting edge length of 0.3031 inches. The insert seats and locks via screw-holding method, compatible with SECO cutter series R220.48-09 and L220.48-09. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in high-temperature alloy and titanium machining applications.

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per shop lockout and tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not over-torque or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and cutting edge engagement against the cutter body documentation before resuming operation.
