The SECO 02899483 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX180608R-M10 in the MS2050 manufacturer grade. This single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and NbN multilayer coating over a micrograin carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting temperatures. It measures 0.669 inches in cutting edge effective length, 0.441 inches inscribed circle diameter, and 0.252 inches thick, with a 1/32-inch corner radius and a positive rake angle of 22.4 degrees. Screw-clamped into compatible indexable milling bodies, it delivers two cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop milling operations.
This insert is engineered primarily for superalloys and titanium (ISO material group S), with secondary suitability for steel and stainless steel (ISO groups P and M). The M10 chip breaker geometry promotes positive cutting action and chip control across these demanding materials. Typical applications include shoulder milling, pocket milling, and ramping operations where tight tolerances and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials require a stable, sharp cutting edge. The 15-degree relief angle and honed cutting edge style reduce built-up edge and extend tool life in both roughing and semi-finishing passes on CNC machining centers.
Designed for use in SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 indexable milling bodies that accept the XOMX-18 insert series with screw clamping.
This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians following standard indexable tooling procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the correct torque without over-tightening, which can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seating surface. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
