The SECO 02898029 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. It measures 17.50 mm (0.6895 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree split point that reduces thrust and improves centering on entry. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in abrasive and elevated-temperature cutting conditions. At 143.00 mm (5.63 inches) overall length with a 93.00 mm (3.66 inch) flute length, this bit handles depths up to 71.00 mm (2.80 inches). It is part of the SECO SD1105A series and is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
This drill bit is designed primarily for steels and a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, reflected by its P, M, K, and H material group ratings. Its straight shank with an 18 mm (0.71 inch) shank diameter fits standard drill chucks and tool holders. The right-hand cut, regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. It is a strong fit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where consistent hole quality and tight tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute within the SECO SD1105A series. Fits standard straight-shank tool holders and drill chucks accepting an 18 mm shank. Suitable for steel, cast iron, non-ferrous, and hardened material applications per P, M, K, and H workpiece material classifications.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Confirm chuck or collet bore matches the 18 mm shank diameter before seating the bit. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so adequate flood or mist coolant delivery to the cutting zone is recommended for extended runs in steel. Follow ANSI B212.15 and machine manufacturer guidelines for proper runout and clamping torque on the tool holder.
