The SECO 02897998 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. It features a 14.70 mm (0.5792 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree split-point geometry, and an AlCrN coating that resists heat and extends tool life in abrasive or hard workpiece materials. The overall length is 133.00 mm (5.24 inches) with an 83.00 mm (3.27 inch) flute length, giving it a 5xD depth-to-diameter capability. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 16.00 mm (0.63 inch) in diameter and 48.00 mm (1.89 inches) in length. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix cut right-hand. This drill is used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and production floor operators working in CNC or manual drilling applications.
The SD1105A series is engineered for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials classified under ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. The AlCrN coating provides oxidation resistance and thermal stability, making this drill well suited for dry or minimal-coolant drilling cycles. Note that this drill does not feature through-tool coolant. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where a straight-cylindrical shank and ANSI-standard tolerancing are required. Diameter tolerance is m7, which supports consistent fit in standard toolholders and chucks.
The 02897998 is part of the SECO SD1105A series and is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO codes P, M, K, H). It is sized for toolholders and chucks accepting a 16.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, consistent with ANSI tooling standards in the 0.5000 to 0.6500 decimal inch diameter range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Confirm the spindle and toolholder are de-energized and at a complete stop before loading or removing the drill. Secure the shank in a properly sized chuck or toolholder to the depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer. Because this drill does not have through-coolant capability, ensure adequate external lubrication or chip clearing strategy is in place when drilling deeper holes or working in gummy materials.
