The SECO 02897954 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and an AlCrN coating for extended tool life under high heat and abrasion. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 12.00 mm (0.4724 inches) in diameter and fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. With a two-flute spiral design and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 6xD, this bit is built for machinists, tool-and-die shops, and industrial maintenance professionals who require consistent hole quality in tough workpiece materials.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, and H. It suits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where a right-hand cut jobber-length bit is required. The Series SD1105A designation places it within SECO's SD1105A product line, and it conforms to ANSI standards. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling hard or abrasion-resistant materials.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style replacement or direct-application drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 12.00 mm (0.4724 inch) straight-cylindrical shank, across CNC and manual drilling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard drill chuck or collet toolholding systems. Confirm the spindle and toolholder are de-energized and fully stopped before inserting or removing the bit. Verify shank seating depth and runout before drilling; excess runout accelerates tool wear. Because this bit does not have coolant-through capability, apply external cutting fluid or coolant at the cutting zone to manage heat and chip removal when drilling hard or abrasion-resistant materials.
