The SECO 02897912 is a jobber-length, solid carbide drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. It features a 5/16-inch (0.3125 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree standard point angle, and an AlCrN coating that extends tool life when cutting abrasion-resistant and hard materials. The spiral flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the straight-cylindrical shank with an 8 mm (0.315 inch) diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and toolholders. Overall length is 91 mm (3.58 inches). This bit is intended for right-hand, clockwise cutting and is part of the SECO SD1105A series. Machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary users.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, and H. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 53 mm (2.09 inch) flute length support deep-hole entry relative to diameter within the jobber-length class. The maximum drilling depth is 43 mm (2.09 inches). It carries no coolant-through capability, making it suited for dry or flood-coolant external delivery setups. This is a general-purpose, high-performance bit appropriate for drilling operations on both CNC machining centers and conventional drill presses where carbide tooling is specified.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style solid carbide jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders accepting a 0.315-inch straight-cylindrical shank, conforming to ANSI specifications for jobber-length drill bits in the 0.3000 to 0.3500 inch diameter range.
Installation and use of this drill bit is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the chuck or collet before operation to prevent runout and premature tool failure. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly fixtured and that all guards are in place before initiating a cut. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; apply external coolant or cutting fluid at the tool-workpiece interface as required by the material and cut parameters.
