The SECO 02897889 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a 6.2 mm (0.2443 inch) diameter with a 140-degree drill point angle and an AlCrN coating for extended tool life under heat and abrasion. The overall length is 91 mm (3.585 inches) with a 53 mm (2.088 inch) spiral flute length. It features a straight-cylindrical shank with an 8 mm (0.315 inch) shank diameter. This bit belongs to the SD1105A series and is installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and manufacturing maintenance professionals working on production drilling applications.
The 02897889 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials in both job shop and production environments. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling passes up to 43 mm (2.088 inches). The right-hand spiral flute geometry and standard point type make it a general-purpose high-performance option for materials coded P, M, K, and H under ISO workpiece classification. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is the appropriate method for heat management during use.

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck within manufacturer runout tolerances to prevent premature edge wear. Apply external cutting fluid or coolant directed at the cutting zone, as this bit does not have coolant-through capability. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit at first sign of chipping or coating breakdown to maintain hole quality and prevent workpiece damage.
