The SECO 02843086 is a Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN) turning insert in the CCGW 21.51E-L1-B geometry, part of the Secomax series. This uncoated, multi-tipped insert features a diamond 80-degree shape with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It carries a positive rake angle and a honed cutting edge, making it suited for high-precision material removal in demanding machining environments. The insert is held by screw and is designed for use in CNC turning applications where tight tolerances and hard workpiece materials are the norm. Machinists and toolroom professionals working on hard-turning operations are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for turning, facing, and boring operations on hard materials (ISO material group H) and super-alloys and titanium (ISO material group S). It fits standard CCGW-style toolholders and is rated for material grades H01, H10, and H20. The flat-top chip breaker geometry is designed for finishing passes at shallow depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0200 inches. Typical applications include hardened steel components, case-hardened parts, and high-temperature alloy workpieces found in aerospace, tooling, and precision machining shops.
Designed for use in CCGW-style screw-clamp toolholders. ISO code CCGW060204E-L1-B. Industry standard number CCGW21.51E-L1-B. Suitable for primary workpiece materials classified as hard materials (H) and secondary materials in the super-alloys and titanium group (S), with material grades H01, H10, and H20.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC or manual lathes. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque screwdriver or wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamp screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before installing a new edge to ensure proper seating and avoid premature edge failure.
