The SECO 02829689 is a steel indexable boring bar in the SCLC toolholder style, designed for internal diameter boring operations on lathes and turning centers. It accepts a diamond-shaped CC insert held by a screw clamp mechanism and features a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees with a 95-degree lead angle. The shank diameter is 0.75 inches, the overall length is 10 inches, and the minimum bore diameter is 1 inch. Coolant-through capability is built in, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in continuous cutting applications. No insert is included with the bar.
This boring bar is suited for use in production turning and job-shop environments where repeatable internal diameter accuracy is required. The SCLC series geometry is commonly applied to roughing and semi-finishing passes in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. The screw-clamp insert retention is standard practice for this tool style and is compatible with CC-style inserts with a 0.375-inch inscribed circle (IC). The center-to-cutting-edge dimension is 0.5 inches, which determines the effective reach offset from the bar centerline.
Designed for use with CC-style diamond inserts sized to a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, compatible insert size code CC..32.5. Insert is not included and must be sourced separately.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. The boring bar must be secured in a rigid tool block or turret with the shank fully supported to the manufacturer-recommended overhang ratio before engaging the workpiece. Power down the machine and lock out all axes before changing or indexing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the insert screw and follow the insert manufacturer's specified clamping procedure to avoid seating damage.
