The SECO 02828069 is a solid carbide milling insert in an octagonal shape, designed for indexable face and shoulder milling applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under grade MK2050 with a PVD-applied TiSiN and TiAlN dual coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting operations. It carries a negative rake angle of 20 degrees and a wiper cutting edge style, which improves surface finish at higher feed rates. The insert is double-sided with 4 usable cutting edges, maximizing tool life per unit. Thickness is 0.1673 inches and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.4724 inches. It is installed by machinists and tooling specialists on CNC milling machines.
This insert is suited for milling cast iron as its primary workpiece material, with secondary application in steel and hard materials. The M10 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-grain material removal, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes. Compatible cutter series include R217.48-05 and R220.48-05. It is held in the cutter body via a screw-clamp method and is rated neutral hand, providing flexibility across standard right-hand and left-hand cutter configurations.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.48-05 and R220.48-05. ANSI and ISO code ONEU050410ZZTN4-M10. Part of the ONEU-05 insert series.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the milling spindle is fully de-energized and locked out before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamp screw to the cutter body per the cutter manufacturer torque specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper contact and runout.
