The SECO 02827879 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XNEX080608TR-MD15 in manufacturer grade MK2050. The insert features a double-sided, negative-rake geometry with six cutting edges, making it a high-utilization option for face and shoulder milling operations. A PVD-applied TiSiN and TiAlN dual coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted cuts and high-speed passes. The MD15 chip breaker geometry and T-land cutting edge style are engineered for stable, consistent chip formation across a range of workpiece hardnesses. Installed by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians, this insert is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method.
This insert is designed for milling cast iron, steel, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes K, P, and H. It is suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip evacuation and edge durability are critical. The right-hand cutting orientation and XNEX-08 series geometry make it applicable in face mills, shoulder mills, and copy mills requiring an 08-series trigon insert seat. The cutter series compatibility listed for this insert is R220.96-08.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R220.96-08 and any toolholder accepting XNEX-08 series trigon insert seats per ANSI and ISO standard designation XNEX080608TR-MD15.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out, tagged-out state before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using a calibrated torx or hex key. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
