Product Description

The SECO 02827878 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XNEX080608TR-ME09 in manufacturer grade MK2050. This double-sided, right-hand trigon insert is coated with a PVD-applied TiSiN and TiAlN multilayer finish for wear resistance in demanding milling applications. It features 6 cutting edges, a negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style, and a ME09 chip breaker. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.2953 inches and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, this insert is suited for medium-grain carbide applications in ferrous and hard-material milling. Installation is carried out by licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians using screw-holding toolholders.

This insert is intended for milling cast iron, steel, and hard materials, making it applicable in both production and job-shop environments. The negative rake angle of 27 degrees combined with the T-Land edge prep reduces edge chipping when cutting abrasive or interrupted workpieces. The ME09 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow in medium-engagement cuts. Compatible cutter series is the R220.96-08 platform. Each package contains 1 insert; minimum order quantity is 10 units.

Key Features

  • Double-sided trigon insert with 6 usable cutting edges for extended tool economy
  • PVD-coated TiSiN and TiAlN finish for heat and wear resistance at the cutting edge
  • ME09 chip breaker optimized for cast iron and steel at medium feed rates
  • Negative rake with T-Land edge prep reduces chipping on hard and interrupted cuts
  • Screw-holding insert design for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders
  • ISO and ANSI standardized geometry for straightforward replacement sourcing

Compatibility

Designed for use in the SECO R220.96-08 cutter series. Insert style XNEX, size code 080608, is compatible with toolholders accepting XNEX-08 series inserts. Verify pocket and screw specification against toolholder documentation before installation.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before tightening the clamping screw; do not force an insert that does not seat flush. Inspect the insert pocket and screw threads for wear or damage each time inserts are indexed or replaced.
