The SECO 02827506 is a solid carbide milling insert in the XNEX-08 series, designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. It carries a trigon (XNEX) shape with an 88.28-degree included angle and features six cutting edges on a double-sided body, maximizing tool life per insert. The F40M fine-grain carbide grade is finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating, providing wear resistance and heat tolerance in demanding cuts. A negative rake angle of 27 degrees combined with a T-Land cutting edge style supports stable, predictable performance across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, K, S, and N. It is compatible with the SECO R220.96-08 cutter series and is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists in production environments such as aerospace, general machining, and heavy manufacturing. The ME09 chip breaker geometry supports chip control across a maximum depth of cut of 0.2953 inches, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use with the SECO R220.96-08 cutter series. ANSI and ISO code: XNEX080604TR-ME09. Insert size code 080604 with an inscribed circle of 0.4913 inches fits toolholders specified for the XNEX-08 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before installing a new insert.
