The SECO 02825918 is a Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN) turning insert in the CNGA style, designed for high-hardness machining applications. This uncoated, multi-tipped insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. It carries manufacturer grade CBN010 and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With a negative rake angle and neutral hand, it fits standard CNGA-style toolholders and is well suited for CNC turning operations on hard and difficult materials. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production turning environments will find this insert appropriate for demanding stock removal on hardened workpieces.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on hard materials and super-alloys, including titanium. The CNGA 431 geometry and PCBN substrate make it a common choice for finish and semi-finish turning of hardened steels and heat-resistant alloys where carbide inserts fall short. It is compatible with CNGA-style insert pockets that use clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. The flat-top chip breaker and chamfered edge preparation help maintain edge stability at elevated cutting temperatures typical of hard turning applications.
Designed for use in CNGA-style toolholders with clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert holding methods. Suitable for primary workpiece materials classified as hard materials (H) and secondary workpiece materials including super-alloys and titanium (S). Material grades H01, H10, and H20 apply.
Installation is performed by machining technicians and tooling specialists following standard CNC lathe setup procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed away from the work zone before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torque driver for the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to prevent rocking or improper seating.
