The SECO 02823888 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation XOMX10T316TR-M09 in manufacturer grade F40M. It features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake angle of 10.6 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a dual-layer TiAlN plus TiN PVD coating applied over a fine-grain carbide substrate. The insert measures 0.3661 inches in length, 0.2717 inches in inscribed circle diameter, and 0.1508 inches thick. Two right-hand cutting edges and a 15-degree relief angle combine to support aggressive metal removal while maintaining edge stability. The M09 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip flow across a broad range of milling applications. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-setup technicians are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for use in face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling operations on both CNC machining centers and manual milling equipment. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes P, K, and S). Secondary applications cover cast iron and non-ferrous metals (ISO codes K and N). Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tool-setup technician. Before swapping inserts, the machine spindle must be fully stopped, locked out, and the cutter body secured in a vise or tool holder to prevent rotation. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the screw; do not over-tighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert, and verify the insert is fully flush and stable before returning the tool to service.
