The SECO 02823871 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation XOMX10T331TR-ME07 in manufacturer grade F40M. It belongs to the XOMX-10 series and features a parallelogram shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry at 20.4 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is PVD-coated with a TiAlN and TiN multilayer finish applied over a fine-grain carbide substrate. It carries two cutting edges in a right-hand orientation and is held in place by a screw-type clamping method. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The XOMX10T331TR-ME07 is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling across a range of workpiece materials. Primary material applications include steel and cast iron, with secondary applications covering non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The ME07 chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip formation across these material groups. The insert is sized under the 10T331 insert size code and is compatible with cutter bodies in the R217.69-10 and R220.69-10 series. This makes it a practical choice for production environments handling mixed-material work.
Confirmed compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-10 and R220.69-10. Insert size code 10T331 with inscribed circle range of 0.2500 to 0.3000 inches and length range of 0.3200 to 0.4000 inches.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be powered down and locked out before inserting or replacing cutting inserts. Use the correct screw torque driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper insert support and runout.
