The SECO 02823840 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation XOEX10T304FR-E05 in manufacturer grade F40M. Designed for indexable milling operations, this single-sided, right-hand insert features a parallelogram shape with a 90-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry at 21.6 degrees. The PVD-applied TiAlN plus TiN dual-layer coating protects fine-grain carbide substrate during aggressive material removal. With 2 cutting edges and a sharp cutting edge style, the insert is held in place via a screw-lock mounting method. Licensed machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers working in production environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling operations on a range of workpiece materials. Primary applications cover steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. Secondary material applications extend to non-ferrous metals and stainless steel. The E05 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across these material groups. It is compatible with Seco cutter series R217.69-10 and R220.69-10. Typical use cases include production milling of structural steel components, cast iron housings, and titanium aerospace parts where consistent edge life and coating durability are required.
Compatible with Seco cutter series R217.69-10 and R220.69-10. Designated under ANSI and ISO code XOEX10T304FR-E05, insert size code 10T304, series XOEX-10.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before indexing or replacing inserts, ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct screw torque driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer for the screw-lock retention system. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate positioning.
