The SECO 02823046 is a double-ended, left-hand grooving insert designed for precision groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating, this insert delivers consistent wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. It carries the CP500 manufacturer grade designation and features a positive rake geometry with a 0-degree rake angle, suited to interrupted and continuous grooving cuts. The MC chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at production feed rates. Installation is handled by clamp-style insert holding, compatible with X4-series toolholders.
This insert is intended for use in production turning environments where groove width consistency and surface finish quality are critical. The X4 series is engineered for grooving applications across universal workpiece material categories, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant superalloys, and hardened materials, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, O, P, and S. It is a fit for shops running high-volume turning operations in both CNC production and job-shop settings.

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamp applies even clamping force before resuming cuts. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for clamp screws, and inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation.
