The SECO 02822994 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the X4GK style, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating for wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a 0.059 inch cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.256 inches. Clamp-style holding secures the insert in compatible X4 series toolholders. Micrograin carbide substrate supports consistent edge integrity at elevated cutting speeds.
This insert is suited for general-purpose grooving on a wide variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, reflected in its universal primary workpiece material rating. It fits standard shop environments running the X4 series tooling system and is appropriate for both production turning and job-shop applications. The neutral rake and zero lead angle make it usable on both conventional and live-tooling setups where grooving depth requirements fall in the 0.200 to 0.300 inch range.
Designed for use with X4 series clamp-style grooving toolholders accepting the 2503010 insert size. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, O, P, and S per ISO classification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp key to secure the insert fully in the pocket, and inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or damage before installation. Follow ISO tooling standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for insert indexing intervals.
