The SECO 02822864 is a left-hand DVJN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a negative rake angle of -4.5 degrees and a 93-degree lead angle, providing stable, controlled cutting geometry for general-purpose metal removal. The 1 inch by 1 inch square shank fits standard toolpost and turret positions. This toolholder accepts VNMG 332 inserts secured by a dual-clamp holding method, offering rigid insert clamping under interrupted and continuous cutting loads. It is installed and set up by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments.
This toolholder is suited for left-hand turning applications where the tool feeds from the chuck toward the tailstock. The 93-degree lead angle geometry supports profiling and straight turning passes. It is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, which span cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, and high-temperature alloys. The 5.0-inch overall length and 1.61-inch head length position the insert at a 1.25-inch back-of-bar to cutting edge distance, making it compatible with standard tool turret pockets.
Designed for use with VNMG 332 inserts (compatible insert size code VN33, 3/8 inch inscribed circle). Fits standard CNC lathe and turning center turrets accepting a 1 inch square shank toolholder.
This toolholder is installed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret. Ensure the shank seating surface and turret pocket are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for turret clamping bolts. Insert installation should follow the insert manufacturer seating procedure using the appropriate clamp screw torque for VNMG-style inserts.
