The SECO 02815036 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert from the MDT series, designed for precision grooving and turning operations in demanding machining environments. The insert carries the TGK1500 manufacturer grade with a CVD coating for extended wear resistance on hard workpiece materials. It features a dog bone shape with a neutral hand orientation, a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches, a cutting height of 0.177 inches, and a corner radius of 0.016 inches. The insert length is 0.630 inches. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in metal-cutting production environments.
This insert is engineered for use on cast iron workpieces as its primary application, with a K-class workpiece material designation indicating suitability for short-chipping, abrasive materials. The MDT series design supports multi-directional turning and grooving passes. The MT chipbreaker geometry helps control chip flow across varying depths of cut. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes on cast iron components in industrial or production machine shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard production insert for MDT-series toolholders accepting LCMF-style inserts with a 160304 size code. Catalog reference: LCMF160304-0300-MT.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool height.
