The SECO 02808733 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation XNHQ140724TN4-M11 and manufactured grade F40M. It features a butterfly (XNHQ) shape with a rectangular profile, a negative rake angle of 16 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is double-sided with 4 cutting edges and is coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD coating process, providing wear resistance for demanding milling applications. At 0.295 inches thick and 0.551 inches in cutting edge effective length, with a corner radius of 0.0945 inches, this insert is engineered for productive metal removal in steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in indexable milling tool bodies.
This insert is suited for use in both roughing and semi-finishing milling operations on a range of workpiece materials. Primary material applications include steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, K, S). Secondary applications cover cast iron and non-ferrous metals (codes K, N). The M11 chip breaker geometry is designed to promote chip control across these material groups. The insert is compatible with the SECO cutter series 335.25 and fits tool bodies from the XNHQ-14 series. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it adaptable to a variety of milling setups. Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer's specified torque using the correct Torx or hex key. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping components for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
