Manufactured from solid carbide with a Duratomic coating process, this insert carries the DP3000 grade designation and features an 80-degree trigon (trigon) shape with a 7-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.219 inches, the thickness is 0.094 inches, and the corner radius is 0.031 inches. It is intended for professional machining applications and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working with CNC or manual drilling systems requiring replaceable cutting inserts.
This insert is suited for a wide range of workpiece materials. The DP3000 grade with Duratomic coating covers universal primary workpiece material categories including cast iron, non-ferrous materials, stainless steel, general steel, and heat-resistant superalloys, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a common replacement insert for production drilling operations in metalworking environments, including both job shop and high-volume manufacturing settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable drill bodies accepting WCMX-style inserts with an insert size code of 03 and an inscribed circle of 0.219 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer to seat and secure the insert clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper geometry and safe cutting performance.
