The SECO 02807377 is a WCMX-style indexable drill insert engineered for use in indexable insert drills in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from solid carbide with a Duratomic coating process, this insert carries the DP3000 manufacturer grade, a designation suited for universal workpiece material compatibility across multiple material groups. The trigon shape features an 80-degree included angle and a 7-degree relief angle, delivering a geometry optimized for efficient chip formation and reliable edge life. The 0.031-inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, making it a dependable choice for production drilling environments.
This insert is intended for use in indexable insert drill bodies that accept WCMX06 inserts. It is appropriate for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials, as indicated by the material codes H, M, N, P, and S. It is commonly installed in CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and dedicated drill press setups where repeatable hole quality and fast cycle times are priorities. The chipbreaker designation 85 supports controlled chip evacuation across these material groups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable drill bodies accepting WCMX06-style inserts with a 0.375-inch inscribed circle. Compatible workpiece materials are classified under codes H, M, N, P, and S per the manufacturer specification.
Indexable drill inserts should be installed and indexed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the drill body manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat for damage or debris before seating a new insert, as a contaminated pocket will affect runout and hole quality. Dispose of worn carbide inserts according to applicable shop waste and hazardous material guidelines.
