The SECO 02792556 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation XNHQ140760TN4-M11 in manufacturer grade F40M. It features a butterfly (XNHQ) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a negative rake angle of 16 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is double-sided with four cutting edges, giving technicians more usable life per piece. A PVD-applied TiAlN plus TiN coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding milling applications. Thickness and inscribed circle diameter are both 0.2953 inches, and the cutting edge effective length is 0.5512 inches. The insert is held in the cutter body by screw and is compatible with the 335.25 cutter series.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material codes P, K, S, and N. It fits medium-to-finishing milling scenarios where a fine-grain carbide substrate and multilayer PVD coating are required for consistent edge performance. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5157 inches, making it suitable for moderate stock-removal passes as well as finishing operations on difficult alloys. Indexing and insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle stopped and the machine locked out per facility safety procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — avoid overtightening, which can crack the insert or damage the pocket. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Confirm the insert is fully seated and the screw is snug before resuming any cutting operation.
