The SECO 02790671 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG432-MF5 series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TH1000 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied multilayer TiAlSiN coating, delivering high heat resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and four usable cutting edges. The MF5 chip breaker geometry provides controlled chip flow during finishing and semi-finishing passes. Installation and application are carried out by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is optimized for cutting superalloys and titanium alloys as its primary workpiece materials, with hard materials as a secondary application. The MF5 chip breaker and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style make it well-suited for back turning, boring, facing, and general turning operations. A maximum depth of cut of 0.1063 inches supports light to medium material removal rates consistent with finishing work on difficult-to-machine aerospace and high-temperature alloys. The neutral insert hand allows use in both conventional and back-turning setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for DNMG-series toolholders accepting a 432 insert size with clamp, pin, or lever lock retention, conforming to ANSI and ISO DNMG150408-MF5 standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use appropriate insert seating tools and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or damage before seating a new edge to ensure proper support and prevent premature insert failure.
