The SECO 02779771 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XNEX080608R-M08 in the MS2500 manufacturer grade. It features a trigon shape with six cutting edges, a negative rake angle of 24 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style suited for demanding material removal applications. The insert is coated via CVD process with a TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting zone. A corner radius of 0.0315 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2953 inches define its geometry for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians install this insert in compatible indexable milling toolholders.
This insert is engineered primarily for superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S), with secondary application in steel and stainless steel (ISO material codes P and M). It suits milling operations in aerospace, energy, and precision-manufacturing environments where tool life in difficult-to-machine materials is critical. The M08 chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip formation in these tough workpiece materials. The insert is double-sided, maximizing usable cutting edges per insert. It is held in the toolholder by a screw-clamp method and is right-hand oriented. Compatible cutter series is R220.96-08.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the spindle locked and machine powered down before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating each new insert edge. Confirm insert orientation matches right-hand cutter rotation before resuming operation.
