The SECO 02779770 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation XNEX080608R-M08 in manufacturer grade H25. It is designed for use in milling operations on non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium. The insert features a double-sided, right-hand configuration with six cutting edges and a negative rake angle of 24 degrees, delivering consistent edge engagement and extended tool life across demanding milling applications. The uncoated, bright finish micrograin carbide substrate suits direct cutting of gummy or abrasive non-ferrous materials where coatings can negatively affect surface adhesion. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers.
This insert fits milling applications in industrial, aerospace, and general machining environments where non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass are processed alongside superalloys and titanium. It is compatible with the SECO R220.96-08 cutter series. The M08 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions on these material groups. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the cutter body secured before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change to ensure proper seating and prevent premature edge failure.
