The SECO 02779758 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XNEX080608R-M08 in manufacturer grade MM4500. This trigon-shaped, double-sided insert features six cutting edges and a negative rake geometry, making it well suited for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. The CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting temperatures. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.2953 inches and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch), this insert is engineered for controlled chip formation on demanding workpiece materials. It is held in the cutter body by screw clamping and carries a honed cutting edge style for improved edge integrity.
This insert is designed primarily for milling stainless steel, with secondary suitability for steel, superalloys, and titanium. It fits the SECO R220.96-08 cutter series and is compatible with toolholders accepting the XNEX-08 series insert seat. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general material removal in production environments where ISO material groups M, P, and S are encountered. This insert is installed and indexed by machining or toolroom professionals. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method; avoid over-torquing the screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge.
