The SECO 02776352 is a VNGA-style Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN) turning insert designed for high-hardness and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. It carries a multilayer TiAlSiN PVD coating applied via PCBN process for thermal resistance and edge wear protection. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a chamfered-and-honed cutting edge for consistent performance on hard and abrasive surfaces. With four cutting edges and a flat-top chip breaker geometry, it delivers extended tool life in demanding turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with hardened steels, cast irons, and similar hard materials use this insert in production turning environments.
This insert is intended for turning operations on hard materials (ISO application group H) and secondarily on super-alloys and titanium (ISO application group S). Typical operations include back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning. The neutral hand orientation and negative rake angle make it well suited for rigid setups on CNC lathes where consistent depth of cut and surface finish on hardened components are required. The flat-top geometry keeps chip control predictable during finish and semi-finish passes.
Designed for use in VNGA-compatible toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Industry standard number VNGA332S-00625-L1-U and ISO code VNGA160408S-01525-L1-U apply for cross-referencing compatible toolholder systems. Material grades H10 and H20 define the applicable hardness range for workpiece selection.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians following standard insert-change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of debris before clamping to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for this insert geometry when programming finishing passes.
