The SECO 02770596 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking environments. Built on the Square 6 series platform, this toolholder accepts XNEX 04.. style inserts and operates at a 90-degree lead angle for true square-shoulder cuts. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a maximum depth of cut of 0.157 inches, and a 1-inch Weldon flat shank for positive drive and minimal runout in the spindle. Through-coolant capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting zone. The tool body is constructed from steel and is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production milling applications.
This end mill is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and step milling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 90-degree lead angle produces vertical walls and flat floors, making it appropriate for profiling and slotting operations where part geometry requires true square shoulders. With 5 insert pockets and a maximum rated speed of 26,300 RPM, it is compatible with standard vertical and horizontal milling machines as well as CNC machining centers equipped with through-spindle coolant. The Weldon flat shank interfaces directly with standard side-lock toolholders for secure clamping during high-feed operations.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the toolholder. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the side-lock holder and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify insert seating and screw torque before initiating any cutting cycle, and confirm through-coolant passages are clear and delivering adequate flow at the programmed spindle speed.
