Product Description

The SECO 02765951 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation XNEX040304TR-M08 in manufacturer grade F40M. This double-sided, right-hand insert is PVD-coated with TiAlN and TiN layers for wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous milling operations. It features six usable cutting edges with a negative rake angle of 27 degrees and a T-Land cutting edge style. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.1575 inches and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches (1/64 inch), it is suited to productive metal removal across a broad range of workpiece materials. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and tooling specialists in CNC and manual milling applications.

This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Primary material application codes are P (steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium), with secondary coverage of K (cast iron) and N (non-ferrous metal). The M08 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in medium-duty milling passes. It is held in the cutter body by screw clamping. Compatible cutter series are R217.96-04 and R220.96-04. The insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.

Key Features

  • Six cutting edges on a double-sided trigon body for extended tool life per insert
  • PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating for heat and abrasion resistance
  • M08 chip breaker geometry supports medium-duty milling in steel and cast iron
  • Negative rake angle with T-Land edge prep reduces edge chipping on hard and interrupted cuts
  • Fine grain solid carbide substrate provides toughness and edge retention
  • Right-hand, screw-held mounting for positive clamping in compatible cutter bodies

Compatibility

Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.96-04 and R220.96-04. Insert series designation is XNEX-04, size code 040304.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to apply screw clamping torque per the cutter body manufacturer specification — do not overtighten or undertighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before installing a new insert.
