The SECO 02755040 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating in grade CP500, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. The MF2 chip breaker geometry produces a positive rake angle, reducing cutting forces on difficult materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert using a screw-holding method.
This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and is also rated for steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium (ISO codes P, K, and S). It suits material grades M10, M20, and M30. Typical applications include back turning, boring, facing, and general turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style supports tight-tolerance finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface integrity on stainless and high-alloy workpieces is critical.
Designed for DCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Industry standard insert number DCMT32.51-MF2 (ISO equivalent DCMT11T304-MF2). Fits toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle DCMT insert with a 0.1772-inch hole diameter and screw-clamp retention.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the insert clamping screw to avoid seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating each new insert.
