The SECO 02754854 is a DCMT-style cermet turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the DCMT32.51F1 industry standard, it carries the TP1030 manufacturer grade with a multilayer TiAlSiN PVD coating applied over a cermet substrate. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge with positive rake, making it well suited for light to medium finishing passes. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, providing good accessibility in tight-profile turning operations. Two cutting edges per insert are available, and the screw-style clamping method ensures secure seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations primarily on steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M (material grades P10 and P15). The sharp edge geometry and TiAlSiN coating make it appropriate for finishing cuts where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, and maintenance turning applications are the typical end users. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, and the ISO code designation is DCMT11T304-F1.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1772-inch hole diameter. Compatible with turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel and stainless steel. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamp style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw; do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
