The SECO 02754813 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated by the ANSI code CCMT32.51 and ISO code CCMT09T304, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance. The CP500 grade carries a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating optimized for finishing operations. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and the MF2 chip breaker geometry, it delivers controlled chip formation and a consistent surface finish on difficult workpiece materials.
This insert is engineered for finishing-class operations including turning, facing, and boring. Its primary workpiece material rating covers stainless steel, with secondary ratings for steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. The CP500 grade characteristics are classified under material grades M10, M20, and M30, indicating moderate to high wear resistance balanced with toughness across steel, cast iron, and special alloy categories. Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT insert seating standards. Suitable for toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, CCMT insert style with clearance code C and tolerance code M.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians using the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the insert securely via the screw-clamp holding method. Confirm the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the insert to ensure proper seating contact and edge alignment. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can crack the carbide substrate.
