The SECO 02754802 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in general and finish turning applications. Featuring a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating in manufacturer grade CP500, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting zone. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) with a positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces on the workpiece. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and the MF2 chip breaker, the 02754802 is optimized for light-to-medium cuts on difficult-to-machine materials. It is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and offers two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production shop and maintenance environments. The primary target workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material group M), with secondary suitability for carbon and alloy steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is designed for controlled chip flow during finishing passes, making this insert appropriate for tight-tolerance turned components. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2205 inches, keeping this insert in the finish-to-semi-finish cutting range.

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer. The machine spindle must be stopped and all axis motion halted before indexing or replacing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specification for the screw size to avoid insert movement or seat damage during cutting.
