The SECO 02754793 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT 21.51MF2 series, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating over a CP500 carbide grade substrate, delivering a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to demanding workpiece materials. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) inscribed circle, and a 1/64 inch (0.0157 inch) corner radius. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides two usable cutting edges with a positive rake and positive side clearance geometry, reducing cutting forces during light finishing passes.
This insert is intended for finishing operations including turning, facing, and boring. Its CP500 grade is rated for steel (P), cast iron (K), and special and super alloys (S), with the primary workpiece material being stainless steel. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing chip control at lower depths of cut, making this insert appropriate for close-tolerance work on CNC turning equipment in both production and job-shop environments. It is held in position by a screw-clamp toolholder compatible with CCMT-style pockets.
Designed for use in screw-clamp toolholders with CCMT-style insert pockets accepting a 1/4 inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert. Compatible with boring, facing, and turning applications per ANSI standard CCMT21.51 and ISO standard CCMT060204.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or indexing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw; avoid over-tightening, which can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh edge.
