The SECO 02747692 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation ONMU090520ANTN-M12 in manufacturer grade F40M. This double-sided, octagon-shaped insert features 16 cutting edges and a negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. The PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection for aggressive milling of steel, cast iron, and superalloys. At 0.2677 inches thick with a 0.8661-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0787-inch corner radius, the insert is held by screw and is suited for high-productivity face and shoulder milling applications. The M12 chip breaker geometry supports stable chip formation across a wide range of feed rates.
This insert is designed for use in face milling and shoulder milling operations on CNC machining centers and milling machines. It targets primary workpiece materials including steel (P-grade), cast iron (K-grade), and superalloys and titanium (S-grade), with secondary applicability to cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both left- and right-hand cutter bodies. Typical users are machinists and tooling specialists working in job shop or production environments requiring reliable multi-material performance from a single insert grade.
Confirmed compatible with SECO cutter series R220.48-09 and L220.48-09. Insert follows ANSI and ISO standard ONMU090520ANTN-M12 designation; verify seat geometry and screw size against cutter body documentation before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw — overtightening can fracture the carbide body or damage the seat. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the insert, and confirm the cutting edge orientation matches the intended direction of cut.
