The SECO 02744586 is a solid carbide milling insert in the 218.19 series, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding cutting applications. Carrying the MM4500 manufacturer grade with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating, this trigon-shaped insert delivers consistent edge life across difficult workpiece materials. It features a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a 12-degree relief angle, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert measures 0.1874 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.4402 inches and a corner radius of 0.0472 inches. Installation is performed by machining professionals in CNC milling operations where insert grades and geometries are matched to specific material groups.
This insert is suited for milling stainless steel as its primary application, with secondary capability on steel, superalloys, and titanium. The M08 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions in these material groups. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard trigon insert pockets in the applicable cutter bodies. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces, making it appropriate for shop-level restocking or production runs where consistent grade and geometry are required across multiple cutters.
Compatible cutter series include R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160 as stated by the manufacturer. ANSI and ISO code for this insert is 218.19-160T-04-M08.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians into compatible milling cutter bodies using the screw-clamp holding method. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Follow the cutter body manufacturer torque specification for the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the carbide insert.
