The SECO 02743957 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation XOMX180608TR-ME13 in the MM4500 manufacturer grade. It features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake angle of 25.3 degrees and a T-Land cutting edge style, delivering two right-hand cutting edges per insert. The insert is CVD-coated with a TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer finish applied to a coarse-grain carbide substrate. At 0.252 inches thick and 0.6693 inches in cutting edge effective length, it is engineered for demanding material removal rates in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium milling applications.
This insert is intended for use in face milling and shoulder milling operations on machining centers and milling machines. It is suited for production environments where tool life and surface finish consistency in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys are priorities. The ME13 chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate to aggressive feed rates across the secondary workpiece material groups P, M, and S. The insert is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method and is single-sided, meaning each insert provides two usable cutting edges before replacement.
Compatible with cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 as specified by the manufacturer. Insert size code 180608 corresponds to the XOMX-18 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and power locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the tool manufacturer's specified torque as indicated in the cutter body documentation. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating each new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
