The SECO 02743924 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation XOMX120408TR-ME08 and manufactured in SECO grade MM4500. It is a single-sided, parallelogram-shaped insert with a 90-degree included angle designed for right-hand cutting. The insert features a TiCN plus Al2O3 CVD multilayer coating, a positive rake angle of 20.1 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. With 2 cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4567 inches, it is suited for productive face and shoulder milling operations. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians install this insert in compatible SECO cutter bodies for applications across steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is primarily intended for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M) with additional capability across steel (P) and superalloys and titanium (S). The ME08 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation when cutting these demanding materials. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profiling operations in manufacturing environments where tool life and surface finish consistency are critical. The screw-holding method provides secure seating in the cutter body during interrupted cuts and high-feed passes.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 as stated by the manufacturer. Insert size code 120408 and ANSI/ISO code XOMX120408TR-ME08 should be confirmed against the cutter body specification before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate SECO torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the cutter body specification — do not estimate torque by feel. Inspect the pocket seating surface and shim for debris or wear before installing a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
