The SECO 02743149 is a carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the 150.10 series and features a 2.49 mm (0.098 inches) cutting width with a neutral lead angle of 6 degrees, making it well suited for straight, balanced cuts. The insert is manufactured from micrograin carbide stock and carries the CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for improved wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. Clamping is the designated holding method. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is applied in metal-cutting operations where a narrow, consistent kerf is required. The 2.49 mm cutting width keeps material loss minimal, which is relevant in high-value workpiece applications. The single-end design concentrates tool life at one active edge. The Series 150.10 platform is a dedicated cutoff and grooving system, and this insert seats into compatible 150.10 toolholders with an insert seat size of 2.5. It is appropriate for use in both production shop and job shop environments running ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use with SECO Series 150.10 cutoff and grooving toolholders requiring an insert seat size of 2.5 and a 2.49 mm cutting width insert.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and all stored energy discharged before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamp key specified for the 150.10 toolholder to secure the insert clamp — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control.
