The SECO 02740375 is an indexable ball nose end mill designed for high-performance milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built around the R218.20 toolholder style, it features a 2-inch cutting diameter and accepts 218.20-250.R SCET 12 inserts, with two insert seats positioned for ball nose profiling. The 2-inch straight shank provides rigid coupling to the spindle, and the 7.96-inch overall length suits a range of reach requirements on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Installation and insert changes are performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. At 8.3 pounds, the tool body offers solid mass for vibration damping during aggressive cuts.
This end mill is suited for 3D contouring, profiling, and semi-finishing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The 2.75-inch maximum depth of cut allows substantial step-down passes on mold and die work, aerospace components, and general precision machining applications. The straight shank configuration is compatible with standard ER, hydraulic, shrink-fit, and Weldon-style toolholders with a 2-inch bore. The toolholder catalog reference R218.20-02.00.3-70-120A can be used for cross-referencing in procurement and maintenance records.
Designed for use with 218.20-250.R SCET 12 inserts and the R218.20 toolholder platform. Fits standard 2-inch bore straight-shank toolholders including ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders with appropriate bore size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool body or changing inserts. Use a calibrated torque wrench for insert screw tightening per the insert manufacturer specification — do not over-torque insert screws. Confirm shank runout with a dial indicator after mounting before beginning any cut cycle.
