The SECO 02731807 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F1 series, designed for precision finishing operations on superalloys, titanium, and hardened materials. It carries a TiAlSiN multilayer PVD coating under the manufacturer grade designation TH1000, which delivers high wear resistance when cutting difficult-to-machine materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and a sharp cutting edge style. It holds a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake and side clearance geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists use this insert for demanding finishing passes where tight tolerances and extended tool life are critical.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning applications on superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S) as well as hardened steels (ISO material code H). Secondary suitability covers cast iron (K), general steels (M), and low-carbon steels (P). It is screw-held and fits standard CCMT toolholders. The F1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, making it appropriate for final-pass work where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary concerns. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with ANSI code CCMT32.52 and ISO code CCMT09T308.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Confirm the insert pocket is clean and free of debris before tightening the clamping screw to prevent seating errors that compromise surface finish and tool life. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.3504 inches as specified for this insert geometry.
