The SECO 02730828 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG 432-MF5 series, designed for high-performance single-point turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries the TH1000 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer TiAlSiN coating applied via PVD process, which delivers thermal and abrasion resistance during demanding cuts. The insert has an 80-degree trigon (W-shape) geometry with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. With six available cutting edges and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, this insert is built for productivity in production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers.
This insert is optimized for superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, with a secondary application in hard materials. The MF5 chip breaker geometry and negative rake angle make it well suited for stable, controlled chip formation in these demanding materials. It supports boring, facing, and turning in a single insert style, reducing the need to swap tooling across operations. The insert meets both ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO code WNMG080408-MF5 and industry standard number WNMG432-MF5.
Designed for use in WNMG-style insert pockets that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (material grade S05, H05). Suitable for CNC lathes and manual turning centers configured for WNMG 432 insert geometry.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the tool holder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp, pin, or lever lock mechanism used with this insert style.
