The SECO 02730812 is a CNMG 432-MF2 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlSiN finish applied via PVD process. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a stable cutting geometry suited to demanding finishing operations. With a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and four usable cutting edges, this insert is engineered for high wear resistance in difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. The MF2 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at finishing depths. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert on lathes and turning centers configured for light to moderate stock removal.
This insert is intended for finish turning, boring, and facing operations on superalloys, titanium alloys, and hardened materials. The TH1000 grade with TiAlSiN coating targets material groups S (superalloys and titanium) and H (hardened materials), where high wear resistance is the primary requirement. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both OD turning and facing applications. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry provide edge strength when cutting abrasive or work-hardening alloys at controlled depths up to 0.4764 inches.
Designed for use in ANSI and ISO-standard CNMG-style toolholders accepting a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Applicable to boring, facing, and turning operations on superalloys, titanium, and hardened materials per primary workpiece material codes S and H.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw or lever to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for chipping or wear before each operation; do not use a damaged insert.
