The SECO 02723695 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CDCB-Flat Top series, designed for precision single-point turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries a TiAlN and TiN PVD coating in manufacturer grade CP500, which provides thermal resistance and wear performance on difficult-to-machine materials. The 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand and positive rake geometry gives the cutting edge clean chip formation on finishing and semi-finishing passes. With a 5/32-inch (0.1563 inch) inscribed circle and a 0.10 mm corner radius, this insert suits tight-tolerance external turning where edge precision matters. It is held in place by a screw-clamp system and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO material code M). It is also suitable for carbon and alloy steel (P), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S). Typical applications include external turning, facing, and light profiling on production or job-shop turning equipment. The flat-top chipbreaker geometry works best at moderate feed rates and depths of cut up to 0.1567 inch. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary installers and users of this insert.

Turning insert replacement is performed by licensed machinists or CNC operators with the machine in a full stop and all spindle motion confirmed halted before touching the toolholder. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to release the clamp screw, seat the new insert fully in the pocket, and torque the screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the grade and workpiece material combination.
