The SECO 02712687 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built to the JS553 series specification, this single-end tool features a 3/16 inch diameter, a 3-flute right-hand helical configuration, and a 48-degree high helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The SIRON-A PVD coating, an AlCrN-based finish, extends tool life when machining abrasive and heat-resistant workpiece materials. The 45-degree chamfer angle and 0.0016 inch chamfer width make this end mill well suited for deburring, edge preparation, and corner chamfering in precision components.
This end mill is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. With centercutting capability and a short flute length classification, it supports multiple milling operations: shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. The straight-cylindrical shank with h5 tolerance ensures secure tool holding in standard collet chucks and shrink-fit holders. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments on vertical or horizontal machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or direct-use corner chamfer end mill suitable for standard straight-cylindrical collet and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and superalloys and titanium (S) per ISO material classification.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing tooling from the holder. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0004 inches after tool installation using a dial indicator. Consult the machine tool builder and cutting tool manufacturer documentation for recommended speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
